The journey was created!!

Updated: Jun 12, 2025

Jackie, my baby sister, lived life on the edge, embracing spontaneity and chasing every moment with fearless enthusiasm. She had a fearless spirit, much like my dad in his youth—living fast, following her own rules, and embracing life on her own terms. I remember having friends over—mind you, we were more than eight years older than Jackie—and yet she was the wildest one in the room, dancing like Bobby Brown on the floor while I shouted for her to get up, only for her to laugh uncontrollably.

She was a devoted mother of four, pouring the same boundless love, into her children that she had, for her own mother. Her laughter—bright, contagious, and full of life—remains a cherished sound, one her children still try to recreate as they navigate the daily weight of her absence. As a family, we come together to support others who face the same heartbreaking journey. We strive to ease their burden, ensuring that no family has to worry about essentials like clothing or shoes while navigating their grief. In their hardest moments, we stand beside them, offering comfort, care, and the reassurance that they are not alone.

This nonprofit stands as a tribute to all those who have devoted themselves to caring for a loved one—through illness, through hardship, through every moment of uncertainty. It is a testament to the quiet strength of caregivers, the unwavering love they offer, and the sacrifices they make without hesitation.

At Jackie’s Angels, we recognize that caregiving is more than an act of service—it is an act of profound devotion. Whether for a veteran, a family member, or a dear friend, we strive to ensure that no one has to face these challenges alone. Through support, resources, and community, we stand beside those who give their hearts so selflessly. Caring for my sister during her time in hospice was never a question—it was simply what love demanded.

Hospice of Virginia was a lifeline for my family, providing the care and support we needed as we witnessed my sister’s heartbreaking transition from mobility to complete dependence. Their compassion during such a difficult time made all the difference, ensuring she was surrounded by comfort and dignity in her final days. Losing the ability to drive and move around as she once did must have deeply affected her sense of independence and pride—it was a difficult shift from the freedom she had always known to a reality that restricted her in ways she never imagined. This is for those who have witnessed the heart-wrenching journey of their loved ones—the tears, the exhaustion, and the final transition to the other side. To the true warriors—the caregivers, the quiet champions of love and strength—you are never forgotten. I miss you little sister!!
